Its a yucky day and one of those days to just stay home:) Ha did u think because we homeschool we actually StAy at HoMe??! tee hee that would be silly {wink}! but back to today...... we did school, read a few books, ate popcorn and kinda like if you give a mouse a cookie-- if you give my kids some popcorn , a movie is sure to follow! We just finished watching Monsters Inc ( man should have saved that for letter M week!! O well!) and baby is sleeping, no Awanas ( my choice!) and have been ask by a few ( ok only 3 of you have emailed me this q....) about what curric we use, so I am going to post one subject we do each week ( or try to post each week) and "talk" about what we love ( or not love) about it and maybe for some this will help you in your journey through homeschooling, but if you dont HS still read because many of the activities we do are fun weekend things to do or after school activities- like when it gets dark at 430pm and you just cant send your kids outside ( though I have invested in some flashlights and they can play tag with outside on days that they need some space from me ! lol
so todays subject: Science
I was so scared to take on the task of teaching my kids science but I LOVE love these Apologia series! We are doing Exploring Creation with Astronomy this year and I sooo did NOT want to do it ( I wanted to stick to the animal series but Julie decided to pick out the difficult ones - lol - which we just split the cost and switch off books from year to year!) but surprisingly I LOVE it- we are learning so much and I say WE because I have never really been into the solar system and all that "fun" stuff those type of people like ( umm no calling out names here but Brendon... he heeeee j/k....) and what I like best about these books- they teach ALL grade levels - even Cash man sits in with us as I read and our most recent activity was to make the planets and he loved doing it! I didn't have enough playdough but I recently found out about THIS cool site and we were able to make it and color it the colors we wanted all with supplies we have at home ( yesss -- luv it when that happens!!) so if you see us out late at night looking for a certain star or waiting on a meteor shower- yes we are still doing school-- even at those hours!! :)
